Journeyman Carpenter

Salary: $30.00 – $33.00 /hour

Physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads, combination of sitting, standing, walking

Transportation / Travel Information :
Valid driver’s license, willing to travel regularly, own transportation, willing to travel out of town, own vehicle

Major Work Area:
Construction, Renovation, Maintenance and repair

Specific Skills:

• Read and interpret blue prints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings and hardware
• Fit and install various types of cladding to include vinyl, wood, Hardie plank
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in commercial buildings
• Some forming and concrete work
• Ability to run small projects an asset

Own Tools / Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses

Work Location Information: Various locations

Work Site Environment: At heights, noisy, dusty

Personal Suitability: Team player, excellent written communication, reliability, excellent oral communication, efficient interpersonal skills
Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses etc.) an asset
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Carpenter Trade Certification, Fall Arrest Protection Training, Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate

Required experience:

• Carpentry: 5 years
  Required license or certification
• Valid Driver’s Licenses
  Required education:
• Diploma/Certificate
